Detailed Itinerary for 4 Days Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater Safari
Day 1: Arusha- Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, your driver-guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Arusha and transport you to Tarangire Park. The travel from Arusha to Tarangire National Park will take around two hours. The park’s name comes from the Tarangire River, which runs through it and provides the only source of water for wild animals during the dry season. The park is well-known for its large population of elephants, baobab trees, and African pythons that can scale trees. The park spans an area of around 2,850 square kilometers.
To break up the time in the car, you will have a day of game viewing, followed by a picnic lunch overlooking the river. After a pleasant wildlife drive, you will proceed to the lodge or campground for supper and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Karatu-Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, set off for Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping along the way for wildlife watching. Enjoy the evening game drive to the campground. As you crest the ridge, the huge Serengeti spreads out in front of you as far as the eye can see. Serengeti means “endless plains” in Kiswahili, and this 6,900-square-mile (18,000-square-kilometer) park is home to over 2 million big mammals, including over a million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of plains zebras, and Thomson’s gazelle.
Enjoy a day of wildlife viewing along the Seronera Valley before driving gently to the tented camp for relaxation and sunset gazing.
Day 3: Serengeti-Ngorongoro Crater
Today, you will get up extremely early to go on an early morning safari before breakfast. Spot the animals while they are more active and enjoy a spectacular dawn. The dawn over the African savannah is one of the most magnificent sights one can enjoy. Following the wildlife drive, you will return to the campsite or lodge for brunch.
In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Ngorongoro, the world’s eighth natural wonder. With 2,000-foot-high walls and a crater floor spanning 102 square miles, the crater is a genuine Noah’s Ark, home to nearly every species of East African animals, including the uncommon black rhino. In fact, the crater contains the highest concentration of animals on the globe. It has a river, various wetlands, a soda lake that appears to be steaming from above and is full of flamingos, a forest, and wide grasslands. The enormous bull elephants that live here have unusually long tusks due to the strong mineral content of the volcanic soil and grasses. Dinner will be served at your lodge or camp.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
After breakfast, head to Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day wildlife drive within. This is, without a doubt the greatest spot in Tanzania to witness black rhinos and lion prides, which include stunning black-maned males. There are many beautiful flamingos and a variety of water birds. Other game includes leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and a variety of antelope species. Small animals of various types can also be found here. Late afternoon, return to Arusha or the airport for drop-off.
