2 days Jomba Community Camp and Gorilla trek : The 2 days Jomba Community camp and gorilla trek experience is a unique safari. You can take part in this experience in the Virunga national park.
The Virunga National park is famous for its mountain gorillas and these mountain gorillas can be visited in the Bukima sector and the north part where this package is done. The 2 days Jomba Community camp and gorilla trek is more of a walking safari. It gives you the chance to cross into DR Congo on foot via the Uganda, Bunagana border and walk by the community until you reach your campsite where you will spend the night ahead of your safari.
Get to support the Jomba community especially the women who run this camp. The food is hand made by the Jomba women and also be sure to get yourself some hand woven art pieces while in the area.

Trip Description
Day 1: Leave Bunagana border and walk to Jomba Community Camp
By 8 am, you will be expected to be at the Uganda- DR Congo Bunagana border where your park guide will be waiting to meet you and brief you from ahead of the experience. You along with the park guides and the security team after the briefing will start your walk towards the Jomba Ranger post.
This is where you will check in from and receive your permits. You will walk through the Jomba community and get to capture some authentic moments. You may request to take some photos and only if you are granted permission will you take them. You will connect further to your home for the rest of the day. You may have an evening of entertainment from the community cultural dancers as you end the day.
You will be welcomed with a warm lunch and you will then settle in and relax and you wait to enjoy some more Congolese food later in the evening for dinner. You will spend the night at Jomba Community Camp.
Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking in Virunga national park and return to Uganda.
Wake up for this exciting day. A simple Congolese breakfast of a cup of tea and some samosas or pastries will be prepared for you and you will after connect to the starting point of the mountain gorilla trekking.
You will be given a briefing ahead of the trek on what is expected of you and what to expect while in the forest. You will trek the mountain gorillas of this area for about 1 hour and after you meet them, you will enjoy the given one hour with the mountain gorillas. You may take as many photos and videos without flashes and sounds and watch how the gorilla families associate with each other in the social setting. This is an experience to never miss out.
After the mountain gorilla trekking, you will head back to the Bunagana border to cross back into Uganda leaving the Democratic republic of Congo. You will still take on this transfer on foot so be sure to be fit enough for this package.
