Upon your arrival in the park, you will visit the famed Ibyi’wacu village, which is also known as the “Gorilla Guardians Village.” Enjoy learning more about Rwanda’s rich cultural heritage as you watch traditional dance and singing performances by the intore dance troupe, dress in traditional attire, and also visit the former king’s palace.
Later, drive to your lodge and check in. Dinner will be served at your lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Akagera National Park
After having an early breakfast on Day 2 of your 4 days Volcanoes and Akagera Safari, you will transfer to the park’s headquarters for a briefing. You will receive instructions from the park ranger regarding rules and regulations to follow during your gorilla trekking experience and what to expect during your time with the majestic mountain gorillas.
Commence your hike into the forest in search of your gorilla family, accompanied by a guide and park ranger. Porters are available at the trekking trail heads and can be hired in case you need assistance with carrying your luggage. Tracking a gorilla family can take anywhere between 1 and 6 hours, depending on their location.
Once you have located a gorilla family, you will have an hour to spend with these wonderful and peaceful creatures before returning to base, where you will find your driver guide waiting for you. Have lunch and start our journey to Akagera National Park, where you will arrive in the evening and check into your lodge or camp.
Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge/camp.

Day 3: Full Day Game Drive and Sunset Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema
Wake up early in the morning before dawn and head out for an early morning game drive in Akagera National Park. The park’s diverse ecosystems provide excellent, picturesque opportunities and stunning scenery throughout your game drive.
Return to your lodge for breakfast or opt to have a wonderful bush breakfast organized by the lodge through your guide (prior notice is needed at least a day before to prepare). Once you are done with your breakfast, you will head back out for a full day game drive with a break for lunch at your lodge.
Later in the evening, you will embark on a sunset boat cruise on Lake Ihema, which is famous for large populations of hippos and crocodiles, while the surrounding wetlands act as the perfect habitat for numerous bird species, including the Shoebill stork, African Fish Eagle, and herons, to mention but a few.
Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Transfer Back to Kigali
