Fly from Entebbe international airport to Kihihi airstrip which is near Bwindi impenetrable national airport, taking approximately 2 hours in air and about 1½ hours driving to the park depending on which sector you will track gorillas from.

Detailed Itinerary for 3 Day Bwindi Fly-In Gorilla Safari.

Day 1: Pickup from Entebbe & Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Pickup & Transfer to Bwindi:  On Day 1 of your 3 Days Bwindi Fly-In Gorilla Safari in Uganda, Your guide/driver will pick you up from Entebbe International Airport and accompany you to boarding station, where you will board a domestic flight to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Depending on which sector of Bwindi national park you will be tracking from, you will land at either Kihihi (For the northern and eastern sectors of Bwindi national park) or at Kisoro Airstrip (for visitors tracking in the southern sector of the national park). You will then be transferred by road to the national park, where you will check into your lodge for lunch or dinner depending on your domestic flight arrival schedule.

Community Cultural Tour(Optional): If you wish, you can have an afternoon/evening cultural visit to the nearby Batwa communities. Get to interact with the local Batwa people (pygmies) and learn more about their culture and day-to-day lifestyles.

Later head back to your lodge for an overnight stay. Accommodation will be at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge (Budget)/ Buhoma Haven Lodge (Mid-Range)/ Silverback Lodge (Luxury).

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Trail Experience.

Gorilla Trekking: This is the day you have been anxiously waiting for. Have breakfast very early at you lodge as your guide will pick you up at 6am. You will embark on a short journey to the Parks headquarters in Buhoma. You are supposed to be at Buhoma at exactly 7am for a briefing by the park’s head ranger which will begin at 8am and then you will be put in groups of 8 individuals per group depending on the gorilla group you are going to track. Tracking begins at exactly 8:30 am hence endeavor to always keep time.

Each tracking group consists of strictly eight individuals with each group having a park guide and ranger. Tracking can take about 1- 6 hours depending how easily and quick the gorillas are spotted. Once you have located a gorilla group, you will be give exactly an hour with them; hence you should maximize your time well and don’t forget to take lots of pictures without using your camera’s flash. The tracking trails can be very wet, steep and slippery thus you should wear a good pair of hiking boots.

Batwa Trail Experience: After your gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Forest, you will proceed to do the Batwa Trail Experience, which is conducted by local Batwa guides. Get to learn more about the Batwa’s long and ancient history with the forest, and also learn how to make some local herbal medicines, and Batwa traditional hunting skills. Later head back to the park’s headquarters for your gorilla trekking certificate and transfer back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Fly back to Entebbe & Departure.

Fly Back to Entebbe & Departure: Have breakfast at your lodge early in the morning and check out of your lodge. Your safari guide will drive you to Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrips, where you will board a domestic flight to Entebbe International Airport. Once you arrive at Entebbe, you can wait for your departure flight back home or have a short tour of Entebbe town; all   this depends on your international departure flight schedule. End of Tour.
