Our 4 Days Kahuzi Biega Gorillas and Nyungwe Chimpanzee Tour gives you an opportunity to track the famous eastern lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega national park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. You will also track habituated chimpanzees in Nyungwe Forest National Park in Rwanda. This tour begins and ends in Kigali, Rwanda.

Day 1: Pick-up from Kigali Rwanda and cross to Bukavu
Day 2: Lowland gorilla trekking
Day 3: Cross Back to Rwanda and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trek and Transfer back to Kigali.
4 Days Kahuzi Biega Gorillas and Nyungwe Chimpanzee Tour
Day 1: Pick-up from Kigali Rwanda and cross to Bukavu
Our company’s representative-guide/driver will collect you up at your accommodation and drive you for around 7 hours via Nyungwe National Park, which includes lovely rolling hills in Rusizi, with stops for lunch and refreshment. Cross the Cyangugu border to Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo. When you arrive in Bukavu, the nearest town to Kahuzi Biega, proceed to your lodge for supper and an overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 2: Lowland gorilla trekking
From breakfast at the resort, proceed to the park headquarters for a 45-minute briefing on the Eastern lowland gorillas. You will then go on your exciting adventure with lowland gorillas in the Kahuzi lowlands, where you will see a variety of animals, birds, and primates. It’s generally a 1-6 hours’ experience of the jungle, depending on their movement while watching them interact/play with each other and taking photographs and movies.
You will then descend and meet your driver before returning to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Cross Back to Rwanda and Transfer to Nyungwe NP
After your breakfast, you will drive to the border and cross back into Rwanda where your driver guide will be waiting for you. You will then drive to your hotel in Nyungwe arriving in time to have lunch. If you wish, you can do optional activities such as a tea tour at Gisakura Tea Estate.
Dinner and overnight stay at your preferred hotel.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trek and Transfer back to Kigali.
Have early morning breakfast and drive to the park headquarters for your briefing. The chimpanzee treks in Nyungwe park commence at 5am every morning and take between 4-6 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees. You will be given an hour to spend with the chimps once they have been located, so ensure that your camera is ready to capture the priceless moments!
After your chimp trek, you will have your packed lunch which you carried with you from your hotel. After your lunch, you will proceed to Kigali where your driver guide will drop you off at your hotel or Kigali airport.
End of 4 days Kahuzi Biega.
Note that your Rwanda Visa expires immediately you cross into Congo so you will have to reapply for another while at the border and find it ready after the tour.
