The 4 Days Nyungwe Safari Rwanda includes a wonderful selection of Rwanda’s southern countryside and Nyungwe forest National Park, as well as a cultural visit to the King’s Palace. Nyungwe Forest National Park features another remarkable canopy walk bridge built above the trees from which you can get a great view of the jungle. Several primates live under the forest, and you will be trekking chimpanzees in Uwinka or Cyamudongo forest.

Day 1: Pickup from Kigali and Transfer Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Having had a hearty breakfast, drive to Nyungwe National Park. This excursion is quite intriguing, as it includes multiple stops at the national museum in Butare and King’s palace in Nyanza. In addition, you will get the opportunity to shoot wonderful photographs and learn about Rwanda’s rich culture. After lunch, you will travel to the park, where you will arrive late in the evening and check into your lodge.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk

After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking regulations. A ranger and guides will lead you into the jungle to encounter these primates. This experience is breathtaking because while you go through the forest, you will be able to observe the chimpanzees going about their daily routines such as playing, eating, and relaxing. You will be able to snap many photos. After the walk, you’ll return to your accommodation for lunch.

After lunch, you will embark on the wonderful forest canopy walk, which is well-constructed to provide you a better perspective of the numerous monkeys, birds, waterfalls, and forest canopy. It is an unforgettable lifelong experience. Return to dine and stay overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: Hike and Gisakura Tea Tour

Enjoy breakfast before proceeding to the park headquarters for a briefing. The park’s chief ranger will educate you before you go on a guided trek down Rukuzi Trail, one of Nyungwe Forest National Park’s 19 hiking nature trails. Hiking on this path takes around 5 hours and is considered as challenging but rewarding. This route leads through a wooded buffer zone before opening up to views of the park and Lake Kivu in the distance. On a clear day, you may see some volcanoes. Remember to take your packed lunch from the resort before leaving.

Once you have had lunch, you will drive to Gisakura Tea Estate, where you will be shown the tea-making process. You will be given a tour of the large tea plantation and discover how tea is collected, stored, processed, and packaged for home and international markets. You will conclude your journey with a sample of Rwandan-made tea. Following your tea tour, return to your lodge for supper and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Drive Back to Kigali and Departure

Following breakfast, you will return to Kigali with lunch en-route and participate in a short city tour. You will visit Kigali genocide memorial site to hear about what happened during the genocide, artisan markets, and do some shopping before connecting to Kigali airport for your trip back home or hotel if your flight is not planned today.
