Detailed Itinerary for 9 Days Congo Kahuzi Biega and Masai Mara Safari.
Day 1: Pick-up from Kigali Rwanda and cross to Bukavu
Depending on your location in Kigali, our company representative-guide/driver will pick you up and drive for about 7 hours through Nyungwe national park with amazing rolling hill in Rusizi with stopovers for lunch and refreshing. Cross through Cyangugu border to Bukavu town in Democratic Republic of Congo. On arrival at Bukavu, nearest town to Kahuzi Biega, advance to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Note that your Rwanda Visa expires immediately you cross into Congo so you will have to reapply for another while at the border and find it ready after the tour.
Day 2: Lowland gorilla trekking – Cyangugu and back to Kigali
After enjoying your breakfast at the lodge, drive to the park headquarters for about 45 minutes for briefing about the Eastern lowland gorillas. You will then set off to your fascinating experience of the lowland gorillas in the valleys of Kahuzi as you encounter different mammals, birds and primates. It’s usually a 1-6 hours’ experience of the jungle, depending on their movement while watching them interact/play with each other as you take photos and videos
You will then descend back and meet up with your driver to drive back to your hotel for Dinner and overnight at Hotel Panorama as night before.
Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali
Have early morning breakfast and head back to Kigali city. It’s a 7 hours’ drive passing through Nyungwe national park again, en route visit to the King’s palace in Nyanza and Butare national museum before proceeding to Kigali with lunch en route. Upon your arrival in Kigali, you will be dropped off at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 4: Flight to Nairobi Kenya (own cost)
Wake up in time to have breakfast at your hotel. You will meet up with your driver guide and drive to Kigali international airport where you will board your flight to Nairobi (Jomo Kenyatta Airport). Please note that flights will be booked at your own cost.
Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 5: Drive from Nairobi to Masai Mara
You will start your safari with pick up in from your hotel in Nairobi on the first day of your Kenya safari and welcome you to Kenya. You will have a short briefing as you prepare for your drive to Masai Mara national reserve. You will have a stop in Narok town where you will interact with the Maasai and
other locals.
Your guide will drive you to Masai Mara reserve where you will engage in an evening game drive and search for wildlife species around the savannah plains like elephants, giraffes, antelopes, wildebeests,
zebras, lions, leopards, rhinos among others. After your game drive, you will be driven to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 6: Morning and Afternoon game drive
You will be served with breakfast at your lodge ahead of your morning game viewing experience in Masai Mara national reserve. After breakfast, you will explore the reserve in search of the different
wildlife species which are known to be spotted in the reserve such as the big five which includes lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos and rhinos among other wildlife species.
You will have lunch after your morning game drive. You will engage in another game drive in the afternoon to explore a different part of Masai Mara national reserve as you watch the sunset and then return to your lodge to have your dinner and spend the night at hotel.
Day 7; Full day Game Drive in Masai Mara
After having breakfast at your lodge, your guide will drive you around Masai Mara reserve for a full day of exploring the savannah plains in search of elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalos, antelopes,
impalas, zebras, giraffes, hippos, waterbucks, wildebeests, cheetahs among others.
You will have a morning and afternoon game drive as you drive around the Masai Mara in search of the wildlife species and other attractions at the destination. After your game drives, your guide will drive you back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 8: Drive to Nairobi
You will have breakfast at the lodge and your guide will take you for a morning game viewing experience around Masai Mara. After your game drive, your guide will drive you to Nairobi where you will spend the
rest of the day relaxing.

Day 9: Departure
After breakfast at the hotel in Nairobi, your guide will drive you to the airport for your departure flight which will bring the safari to an end.
