COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES IN UGANDA

Covid-19 Safety Measures in Uganda : Covid-19 in Uganda is in its second wave where the number of covid -19 cases has increased and also the death rates. however despite the fact that covid is on a rise in the country tourism activities and destinations have not been closed due to the fact that a number of destinations in the country like national parks in Uganda, hotels, shopping malls and many others are exercising the standard operating procedures to ensure that the tourists and the locals are not threatened by the virus.  a number of tourists have been attracted to take part in a number of activities that the country has to offer like gorilla trekking in Mgahinga and Bwindi impenetrable national park, tracking the big five animals in queen Elizabeth national park, game drives in Murchison falls national park, kidepo national park, lake Mburo national park among other national parks in Uganda and other tourism destinations in the country.

It should be noted that Uganda confirmed her first case in March 2019 and this prompted the ministry of health to come up with a number of safety measures to ensure that the country has put in place, it has enabled a number of tourists to visit the country in order to enjoy taking part in a number of activities for a memorable Uganda safari.  For tourists interested in taking part in a number of there are a number of covid-19 safety measures in Uganda that you can follow in order to have an amazing experience while in the country and in order to be safe from the virus that has claimed the lives of people worldwide.

Covid-19 Safety measures

• Social distancing is encouraged while taking part in a number of tourism activities in Uganda this is because it is believed the virus is easily spread through air and when you get in close contact with an infected person it is easy to catch the virus through air.
• You’re advised to regularly put on your face masks at all times in the country even if you’re fully vaccinated this will help to avoid from contracting virus and from spreading them in case you’ve come into contact with them. It should be noted that there are new covid-19 variants that have claimed a number of people’s lives therefore you should consider putting on your face masks to avoid exposing yourself to new variants.
• Regular disinfection is highly advised by the park management because it is believed that the covid-19 can live on a surface for more than 12 hours which can be a threat to the tourists and the endangered primates aswell.
• When you come in contact with the gorillas, for tourists interested in gorilla trekking in Uganda, you are advised to maintain a distance of 7 metres to avoid the spread of the corona virus/ covid-19 to the endangered species which can be a threat to them and because the primates are vulnerable creatures they can also contract any disease and covid-19 not being an exception and this can be a problem to their sustainability given the fact they are a few left in the world.

• Temperature guns are used to check for any temperature increase at the different destinations all over the country that are accessible to the country therefore tourists should comply at the different destinations for their temperatures to be checked as a way to avoid letting sick patients to participate in the activity which can be a threat to the tourists.
• A locator slips/ documents are also filled on arrival in the country and for some tourists they fill them a ay prior to their safari and this contains the information of the place of residence a tourist is likely to sleep, the destination he will access which makes tracking incase of any virus outbreak within the persons of contact very easy which will help to easily identify the patients and hence avoiding the spread of the virus to the local communities.one of the trackers in a particular tracking group has caught the virus. It easily helps locate the movements of the trackers
• For any tourist to participate in gorilla trekking in Rwanda during covid-19, they should a negative covid test in order to take part in the activity and failure to do so, they will not be allowed to take part in the activity since you can be a threat to other tourists that are negative of covid-19
