Visit Rwanda Tourism Incentives

Visit Rwanda tourism incentives have been availed by the Rwanda Development Board for tourists visiting Rwanda. The visit Rwanda tourism incentives have were announced through an official document from the Rwanda Development Board on the 28^th of May 2021 in Kigali Rwanda. In the bid to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic that has and still is hitting the tourism industry worldwide, the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) reviewed its tourism incentives and booking regulations so as to revive the tourism industry of Rwanda and encourage travellers to visit Rwanda yet again, to do activities that they love most at a subsidised rate. Below are the new visit Rwanda tourism incentives that tourists and travel stakeholders shall enjoy with immediate effect from the 31^st May 2021;

Tourists who would wish to postpone any type of tourist permit say low season permit, exclusive package permit, MICE incentive permit, due to Covid-19 related reasons can do so at no extra cost, for travel up until December 31^st 2022. Any such permit modifications can only be allowed twice within the aforementioned period, and any form of rescheduling is subject to permit availability. This postponement of any type of tourist permit is however subject to submission of official documentation.
Bookings of permits shall be confirmed subject to availability.

Tourist names on the booking permits can only be changed twice, and up to one day prior the visiting date. This only means that those travellers who may not be able to do various activities due to any effects brought about by Covid-19 say one catches Covid-19 before the travel date, can actually change their names and have someone else take up their place, at no extra cost.

For tour operators, the 30-day full payment requirement prior to the client’s travel date remains into force for bookings not affected by Covid-19. For bookings rescheduled due to covid-19, the 30-day full payment requirement will apply and shall only be calculated based on the new visiting date. Travellers should therefore comply and work hand in hand with their tour agents in this regard.
Tour operators whose clients have cancelled shall be offered future permit credit that may be used by other clients. This is a positive to the tour operators who have been suffering extra costs due to cancellations by travellers.

Additionally, the Rwanda Development Board has extended the existing promotional rates up until 31^st December 2022. These are as below;

Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park for National and East African Community citizens shall cost $200 per person per trek, $500 for foreign residents, while corporate organisations shall have a 10% discount on bulk purchases of 30 permits and more. Families shall have a 15% discount for family visits of couples with children who are over 15 years, and Africans outside the East African Community shall have a promotional offer of $500 per person per trek, while international tourists travelling in a large group of 100 and more shall also enjoy $500 gorilla trekking permit fee.
For all other products and experiences in Volcanoes National Park and nyungwe National Park, Nationals, Foreign residents and East African Community citizens shall enjoy a 30% discount on groups of 10 travellers and more, and a 10% discount for individual travellers. Corporates and Organisations shall also enjoy a 30% discount on bulk purchases of 30 permits and more while families shall have a 15% discount for family visits.

All these visit Rwanda tourism incentives are intended to boost the Rwanda tourism industry, as well as have travellers get to do the activities they enjoy most in Rwanda, amidst the Covid-19 pandemic or even get to postpone until when they actually can travel again safely.
