Day 1: Pick up in Entebbe & Transfer to Kampala.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park and Bigodi Swamp Walk

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park

Day 5: Transfer Back to Kampala & Departure.

Detailed Itinerary for 5 Days Kibale & Bwindi Primate Safari.

Day 1: Pick up in Entebbe & Transfer to Kampala.

Pickup& Transfer to Kampala: Pick up from either hotel or from airport and be ready for an 1½ hour drive to Kampala City where you will have lunch and embark on  a half day tour of Kampala city. Some of the interesting places that you can visit in Kampala include Uganda Museum, Ndere Cultural Centre, Craft Village, Namugongo Martyrs’ Shrine, Bahai Temple, and shopping malls like Kingdom Hall, Game Lugogo, Forest Mall and Acacia Mall. Dinner and overnight at Forest Cottages/Fairway Hotel/Serena Hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park and Bigodi Swamp Walk

Transfer to Kibale: After having your breakfast, meet up with your guide and drive to Kibale National Park in western Uganda. You will have a stopover at the equator monuments in Kayabwe for a few pictures; with lunch in Mbarara town.

Bigodi Swamp Walk: Upon your arrival in Kibale, you will visit Bigodi Swamp for an afternoon nature walk. You will get to see a number of bird species in the swamp including the rare Shoebill Stork. You can also visit some of the women’s groups at KAFRED where you can tour their stalks and see how the women make a lot of handcrafts from sisal, paper, bark cloth and beads. Drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Isunga/Chimpanzee Guesthouse/Kyaninga Lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Chimpanzee Tracking: Have breakfast and drive to the park where you will be doing chimpanzee trekking. You are expected to report at the park by 7 am for a briefing and actual tracking will start at 8am. Tracking can take between 4 to 6 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzee groups. Have lunch and proceed with your transfer to Bwindi National Park.

Bwindi Gorillas

Transfer to Bwindi:  Depart for Bwindi via Ishasha in Queen Elizabeth national park and watch out for eye-catching big game on the way like elephants, buffalos, antelopes, warthogs and other wildlife. In the afternoon, relax while having lunch in Kihihi town or take a walk to the bustling market of Kihihi. Dinner and overnight at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge/Buhoma Haven Lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park

Gorilla Trekking: Enjoy early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with packed lunch for briefing by the ranger guides and later head into the forest for the trek. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi can last anywhere between 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. On finding them, visitors are allowed 1 hour to view and take photos of these gentle primates and later return to the starting point where a certificate is awarded and meet the driver / guide and transfer back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer Back to Kampala & Departure.

Transfer Back to Kampala: Wake up at leisure and have breakfast at your lodge. You will then drive back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport where you will board your return flight back home. End of safari.
