5 Days Kidepo Valley Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Pickup and transfer to Ziwa for Rhino Tracking and Transfer to Gulu
Early in the morning, your guide will pick you up from your accommodation and transport you to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Once there, you will spend an hour on foot rhino tracking. After the rhino tracking, you’ll go to Masindi town for lunch. After lunch, you will go to Gulu City. After Joseph Kony’s rebels were driven out of northern Uganda, a giant awoke.
Gulu is a thriving metropolis in this formerly war-torn region. As you will see, the splendor of life here lasts from sunrise to sunset and late into the night. You’ll get the impression that individuals have gone over their suffering and simply want to enjoy life. You will enjoy your time, followed by supper and an overnight stay at the booked hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park and Afternoon Game Drive
You’ll have breakfast and then travel to Kidepo Valley National Park, arriving in time for some relaxation and lunch before heading out for animal watching. You will travel to the Narus valley in Kidepo’s south sector to see animals.
Narus Valley is Kidepo’s savannah grassland and acacia forest section. It is also the section of the park with permanent water supplies throughout the year, and so the majority of the animals live here. Look for vast herds of buffalo, elephants, zebras, antelopes, lions, cheetahs, and leopards. You will return to your hotel for supper and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Cultural Tour
After breakfast, you’ll go on a morning game drive where you may see animals including lions, elephants, and zebras. You’ll return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon of relaxation. After a healthy rest, go for the Karamojong community cultural encounter, where you will spend a beautiful afternoon and evening with the Karamojong people and gain insight into their way of life and beliefs.
Your supper and overnight stay will be at the reserved accommodation.
Day 4: Morning Guide Nature Walk and Afternoon Game Drive and Transfer to Gulu
After breakfast, you will set off to explore the African savannah on foot with an armed ranger guide. To monitor the resident species, you will go over dry riverbeds, over rocky outcrops, and into woodlands. If you find yourself at Kidepo River Valley, a walk along its vast bed of white sand or through the Borassus palm grove, which feels like an oasis in the Sahara, is a remarkable experience.
Later (afternoon-evening session), you will return to the Narus Valley for further animal encounters. You will then drive back to Gulu town where you will check into your hotel for dinner and a night’s stay.
Day 5: Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe
You will enjoy your early breakfast then checkout and embark on your return journey to Kampala with a stopover for lunch en-route. Drop-off will be at a hotel of your choice in Kampala or at Entebbe International Airport.
