Detailed itinerary for 7 Days Uganda Double Gorilla trekking and Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
Depending on your location in Kampala/Entebbe on the first day of the 7 days Uganda double gorilla trekking and wildlife safari, you will be picked up by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then transfer to Buhoma sector in Bwindi impenetrable national park. Upon arrival you will to check into the lodge, have dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 7 days Uganda double gorilla trekking and wildlife Safari you will carry packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of gorilla habituation.
After the briefing you will start trekking in the jungle in search of the mountain gorillas and during trekking, you will have great views of other primates like l’Hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, plants, bird species among others. Once the gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hours with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities, take photos and record videos.
After the exciting moment with the mountain gorillas you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide to go for an interesting cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the Batwa people, learn about their culture, tradition, visit their homesteads, listen to their ancient stories, enjoy their traditional performances among others. After the cultural tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 3: Second Gorilla Trekking
On the third day of your 7 days Uganda double gorilla trekking and wildlife safari, after having breakfast at your lodge, you will drive to the park’s briefing point. After you have been briefed, you will head into the forest in search for the second gorilla family. This can take anywhere between 1-6 hours or more depending on their location.
Once you have located the gorilla family, you will be given an hour to spend with the gentle creatures. Have you packed lunch after your trekking experience and head back to base where you will find your driver guide waiting for you.
Drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
On the fourth day of the 7 days Uganda double gorilla trekking and wildlife safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park which is the second largest protested area in Uganda.
On the way, you will have a stopover in Ishasha sector where you will be able to view the tree climbing lions and other animals like buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs among others. You will also have en-route lunch and then proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park and upon arrival, you will check into the lodge, have dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
On the fifth day of the 7 days Uganda double gorilla trekking and wildlife safari, you will have an early breakfast and meet up with your driver guide to go for a game drive or lion tracking experience in Kasenyi plains. During the game drive you can look out for various animals like elephants, lions, leopards, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, buffaloes, giant forest hogs, bushbucks, warthogs, bird species among others. After the game drive you will drive to the lodge for lunch.
Boat cruise, after lunch you will go for an amazing boat cruise on Kazinga channel a water body that joins Lake Edward and Lake George. During the boat cruise you will be able to take beautiful pictures, enjoy spectacular views of the landscape, beautiful scenery, wildlife species like large concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes along the water banks, aquatic birds among others. After the interesting boat cruise you will meet up with your guide and transfer to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight as above.
Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kalinzu Forest
On the sixth day of your 7 Days Uganda double gorilla trekking and wildlife safari, you will be served breakfast at your lodge and then head out to the park’s briefing point. Once you have been briefed, you will be placed in trekking groups and the head into Kalinzu forest in search for habituated chimpanzees. Chimpanzee trekking expeditions in Kalinzu forest take between 1-4 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzee; however, trekking hours can be more if the chimpanzees have moved further into the forest. Once you have located the chimpanzees, you will be given only an hour to spend with them.
After having your packed lunch, you will reconnect with your driver guide and head back to your lodge for relaxation. In case you still wish to see wildlife, you can do an evening game drive in the park before retiring back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Departure to Kampala
On the last day of the 7 Days Uganda double gorilla trekking and wildlife safari, you will have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Kampala with en-route lunch on the way. After lunch you will proceed to Kampala and your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport in case you have an evening flight to catch or at any place of convenience.
