You will also track golden monkeys in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park and visit Ibyi’wacu Village and Karisoke center before driving to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi town where you will enjoy a sunset boat ride on the lake and finally windup your safari in Nyungwe Forest National Park with chimpanzee trekking and a guided walk along the famous Canopy Walk-way. Detailed Itinerary for 8 Days Rwanda Uganda Safari

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable National park

Depending on your location, be it airport or hotel in Kigali, our driver guide will pick you up and transfer you to a hotel of your preferred budget nearer to the park. During the journey from Kigali to Bwindi, you may have a city tour and get some history on Rwanda’s culture and history until you finally arrive at the hotel. You will then enjoy the atmosphere close to the home of the endangered species. You will be provided dinner by the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Mahogany Springs (Luxury)/ Buhoma Haven Lodge (Midrange)/ Buhoma Community Rest Camp (Budget)

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Day in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Early morning after your breakfast at the hotel and lunch is packed, you will be met by our driver guide again who will take you to the park headquarters for the brief before you start off the trek. This brief is done at 7am at the headquarters. The gorilla trek can take from 2 hours to almost half a day until the gorillas are finally met. When you finally encounter the gorillas, you are allowed one hour to admire these creatures but at a distance of 6 meters.

After finishing the trek, you will then be taken for lunch and you will relax at your hotel. You may do an optional village tour in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Mahogany Springs (Luxury)/ Buhoma Haven Lodge (Midrange)/ Buhoma Community Rest Camp (Budget)

Day 3: Transfer back to Volcanoes National park (Rwanda)

Wake up for a transfer to Volcanoes national park. The drive goes through the beautiful country side and peoples homesteads along with dramatic views of the Virunga Volcanoes. On arrival at Ruhengeri, check in at your selected lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Muhabura (Budget)/ Tiloreza Eco lodge (Midrange)/ Virunga Inn Resort & Spa (Luxury)

Day 4: Golden monkey tracking and Ibyi’wacu Village Tour

After an early morning breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for briefing and later enter the forest and hike while in search of the golden monkeys. Tracking the golden monkeys rewards views of other primates such as the black and white Colobus monkeys, Olive baboons among others. In the afternoon, enjoy a cultural visit to the Ibyi’wacu cultural village, as known as Gorilla Guardians Village. Visit the former king’s palace and learn more about Rwanda’s unique culture through dance and singing performances from the local intore dance troupe.

Day 5: Visit Karisoke Centre and Transfer to Lake Kivu- Evening Boat Cruise

In the morning after breakfast, you will take a visit to the Karisoke research center where you will visit the Dian Fossey tomb and Museum. After lunch, transfer to Lake Kivu for a boat ride on Lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight stay at Paradise Malahide Lodge (Budget)/ Gorilla Kivu Lodge (Midrange)/ Kigali Serena (Luxury)

Day 6: Transfer to Nyungwe forest National Park

After breakfast, set off for Nyungwe forest National Park. It is a scenic drive that goes through people’s homesteads and different hills of Rwanda – the land of a thousand hills. Arrive in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura Visitor Centre (Budget)/ Nyungwe Top Hill view hotel (Mid-Luxury)

Day 7: Chimp trekking and Canopy walk
After a heavy breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters to track the chimpanzee that also gives an opportunity of encountering a variety of forest birds. In the afternoon, you will have a canopy walk in the forest where you will encounter other primates and view the forest from the top with a breathtaking view. You will see so many birds and monkeys enjoying the forest. Dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura Visitor Centre (Budget) /Nyungwe Top Hill view hotel (Mid-range)

Day 8: Transfer to Kigali
After breakfast, you will set off for Kigali with en route visits to Nyanza Kings palace for cultural visit, Butare national museum in Butare. You will arrive in Kigali late afternoon / early evening and drop-off at your booked hotel in Kigali or airport for your flight.
