Best time to visit Rwandaa
Best time to visit Rwanda : The dry seasons, which run from June to September and December to February, are the ideal times of year to visit Rwanda. During these dry seasons, there is little to no muck on the steep trails, making them perfect for trekking chimpanzees and mountain gorilla trekking. Rwanda has many seasons, which should be taken into account while organising a safari, but because of its small size, close proximity to the equator, and high altitude, the weather is generally mild and conducive to year-round tourism.
But since a lot of safari tourist’s travel to Rwanda during these months, the ideal time to visit might frequently depend on the availability of permits. Nevertheless, don’t let Rwanda’s rainy season deter you either. You will have exclusive access to lush, verdant forests and full lakes thanks to the longer rainy season from March to May and the shorter rainy season in November. During these wet seasons, gorilla permits are sometimes less expensive, and photographers could enjoy the mood more when there is less light contrasted against the jungle, making for sharper photos.
January.
January is a fantastic month for gorilla trekking safari since it falls within the first dry season, which begins in mid-December and lasts until February. While Rwanda’s year-round climate is generally consistent, it might vary depending on the region you are visiting. In addition to providing pleasantly cool, light rainfall throughout the two dry seasons, light clouds are frequently seen across the nation. Although the landscape should be mostly dry, the weather in the Virunga Mountains can be erratic, and rain can fall at any time.
March to May.
The long rainy season in Rwanda is already underway, and it can be quite intense, especially in the country’s hilly areas. While chimpanzee trekking in the Nyungwe national park can be best done during this time of year when figs and fruits in the forest are ripening and the primates are more likely to be seen in larger groups, lower on the trees, and eating, gorilla trekking safari is less suitable during this time.

June to September.
For gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and general wildlife viewing in Rwanda, this is the long dry season. If your schedule is completely flexible, we strongly suggest travelling at this period. During this period, it is more frequent to see animals. During the dry season, species that can withstand harsh environments, such buffalo and elephants, are more noticeable, along with golden monkeys and mountain gorillas. Even in these drier months, we still advise bringing waterproof apparel because gorillas live in the rainforest. In Rwanda, this is also the busiest time of year, thus costs may increase.
October to December.
These months, which include brief periods of rain, are also excellent for birdwatching since many species of birds may be seen, trees are in bloom, and you can even go on specialized birding expeditions (particularly in late November/early December or late May). Green seasons are particularly great for photography since they usually feature strong, swift showers that clear to blue sky, which is perfect for taking pictures of beautiful surroundings.
