Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Kampala and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
Depending on your arrival time at Entebbe International Airport on the first day of the 4 Days Uganda Gorillas and Chimpanzee Trekking Tour, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park. It’s a whole day journey which will take about 8-9 hours. You will have a stop at the Equator for photographs, lunch en route, and other optional multiple stops depending on your request and time. Once you arrive, you will check into your lodge- Buhoma Community Rest Camp for dinner and a sleepover. In this lodge is where you will stay for the entire days of being in Bwindi.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Kibale National Park
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 4 Days Uganda Gorillas and Chimpanzee Trekking Tour, you will carry a packed lunch and your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations of gorilla trekking. After the briefing with Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is knowledgeable about the gorillas and well conversant with trails in the jungle.
Once you have your group confirmed 8 people, the 2 ranger guides will lead you into the thick impenetrable forest to start your search for the endangered rare species of Mountain Gorillas. The gorilla trekking in this park lasts for about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where the gorillas are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking, you will have the opportunity to encounter a variety of wildlife such as primates, birds as well as forest animals.
Once you have allocated these fascinating primates, your daily activities will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their habitat which gives you a chance to observe them as they do with their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, playing, observing their behaviors, taking great photos and record the breathtaking moments to show people back home.
After spending an hour with the magnificent gorillas, you’ll head back to the park’s main area where you’ll receive a certificate for your gorilla trekking experience. Then you’ll meet your driver guide who will take you to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive will take around 3 to 4 hours, and once you get to the park, you’ll check into your lodge for dinner and stay overnight.
After the one-hour encounter with the gentle giants, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking, and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kibale National Park. The journey takes about 4 to 5 hours’ drive. you will enjoy spectacular views of the local people, farmlands, traditional homesteads, and Rwenzori mountains with stopovers to take photos and stretch your legs. Upon arrival in the park, you will check into the lodge at Chimpanzee Guest House for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi wetland walk
After an early breakfast on the third day of the 4 Days Uganda Gorillas and Chimpanzee Trekking Tour your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge at Kanyachu Visitors Center for a briefing about the rules regulations and expectations while on a chimp trekking. After a briefing, you’ll be allocated an armed park ranger who is well vast with the park’s terrains and the chimpanzee families at Kibale Forest National Park.
During the chimpanzee trekking tours, you’ll have an added chance to encounter other primates that call the park’s forest home such as vervet monkeys, gray-cheeked mangabeys, and baboons among others. You will also meet with other animals as well as different bird species, adding to your adventure. Chimp’s trekking here takes about 30 mins to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are allocated.
upon meeting with these fascinating primates, you’ll be allowed one hour of interaction with them in their natural habitat while seeing how they do with their daily activities such as feeding, playing, grooming, and carrying their young ones among others.
After one home interaction with these playful primates, you’ll return back to the park’s headquarters where you will meet up with your guide and then head back to your lodge for a delicious lunch and relaxation
Bigodi wetland walk
After lunch, you’ll embark on an exciting walk through the Bigodi swamp sanctuary. Here, you’ll have the chance to spot a wide range of bird species, including the vibrant great blue turaco, the black-crowned waxbill, and the striking black bishop. Keep an eye out for the grey-winged robin-chat and the yellow-billed barbet as well. You might also see some wildlife, such as otters, bush pigs, sitatungas, and bushbucks, as well as various monkeys, including blue monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, vervet monkeys, and L’Hoest’s monkeys. After your nature walk, you’ll head back to the lodge for dinner and a restful night.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive Through Mweya Peninsula and Departure to Kampala
After an early breakfast on the last day of the4 Days Uganda Gorillas and Chimpanzee Trekking Tour, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Mweya Peninsula where you’ll have a morning game drive through the Mweya Peninsula with all your belongings in the Car. You’ll have the chance to spot different animals such as buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, lions, elephants as well as different colorful birds. If you’re not up for the game drive, you can explore the Katwe Salt Lakes. Here you’ll learn the domestic activity taking place within the lark such as salt mining and more
Kyambura Gorge for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing you will start trekking in the forest which takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours and during trekking, you will be able to view other primates, birds, plant and tree species among others. Once the chimpanzees are found, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their habitat which gives you a chance to learn more about their behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities, and take photos among others.
After you’ll drive back to Kampala with en-route lunch on the way. After lunch, you will continue journey to Kampala arriving early evening and upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advice.
