Detailed Itinerary for 6 Days Uganda Chimpanzee, Wildlife, and Lake Bunyonyi Safari.

Day 1: Pickup and Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Your safari will pickup from your hotel in Kampala/Entebbe, where you will be met by your assigned driver-guide and driven to Kibale Forest National Park, which is well-known for its primates, including chimps, black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and Uganda mangabeys. While on your chimpanzee trekking expedition in Kibale National Park, you will spot them swinging in the forest trees and munching on natural fruits. You will arrive in the late afternoon and just check into your accommodations, rest, and then enjoy your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trek and Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Have breakfast and travel to the rangers’ station where you will receive some training on the dos and don’ts while monkey trekking. After that, you’ll go chimpanzee trekking in the Kibale forest. An expert ranger guide will take you chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest and you will be left astounded by the presence of monkeys here.

Once you’ve located the chimpanzees, you’ll have an hour with them. You will return to the lodge for lunch before leaving for Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will arrive in the evening, have dinner, and sleep at your allocated lodge.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Kazinga Boat Cruise

Wake up early and eat your breakfast. Proceed for a morning game drive to the Kasenyi plains and be on the hunt for Cape buffalos, herds of elephants, and the big cats: lions, and leopards among others. Return to your accommodation for some rest and lunch.

After lunch, you will embark on a 2-hour boat trip along the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lakes George and Edward. During the journey, you will be fascinated by animals such as gigantic hippos, elephants, and crocodiles. You will also see many varieties of birds on the water shores. You will have dinner and stay overnight at your accommodation.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is famous for its resident tree-climbing lions. The chances of spotting these lions are roughly 70%, however, they can be difficult to notice at times; particularly when they are hunting on the grassland.

Continue to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi Forest National Park is a large habitat for mountain gorillas in Uganda (home to an estimated 400 gorillas, or roughly half of the world’s population), with several habituated groups that you will trek.

With a long day ahead, you will do little on arrival except check into your lodging and relax as you prepare for the Bwindi gorilla trekking experience the next day.

Day 5; Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Following an early breakfast and a briefing from a ranger guide, you will enter the gorilla sanctuary to begin your adventure. The splendor of this rainforest is breathtaking! The region has a spectacular steeply wooded topography and is quite thick, however, it is crisscrossed by numerous animal pathways that provide access to people.

The time and terrain vary according to the movements of these great primates. When you find a gorilla group, you will be permitted an hour in their company. The excitement of spending time with these gentle and endangered creatures is amazing.

Following that, you will return for lunch and drive off to Lake Bunyonyi. The lake is surrounded by lush, green-terraced hills that reach a height of (2,200 – 2,478m), but it’s the 29 islands of varying shapes and sizes dispersed across the water that make it the most fascinating — you could stare at them all day. Dinner will be served at your lodge.

Day 6: Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your accommodation, with a spectacular view of the Bunyonyi little islands directly in front of you, before returning to Entebbe Airport. Expect lunch on the way and a stop at the Uganda Equator line marker in Kayabwe for some memorable photos and possibly some interesting art pieces to purchase. Continue your travel until late afternoon/evening, when you will be dropped off at the airport to catch your flight home. We hope to see you (or any referral) when next you visit and thanks for selecting Explore Rwanda Tours!
